We Are Family: Community Art Initiative

Our families are a haven for many - a place of safety, comfort, and love. The hearth and home of Family life exist without condition, and if endangered or lost altogether, we feel it deeply.
Through the upheavals and destabilizing effects of the pandemic, Family has taken on greater importance, revealing how the idea of Family extends beyond the genetic to embrace what is essential and most beautiful about our love for one another.
In this exhibition, the Thames Art Gallery invited the community to respond to their experience of Family through photography.

The Thames Art Gallery would like to invite students to take part in Here I am: Secondary School Virtual Exhibition 2021. A new initiative aimed at engaging and empowering CK Youth! An art exhibition exploring the unique perspectives of area students. With the global pandemic weighing heavily on our lives, it has become increasingly evident that having a way to come together and express our experiences is integral to our well-being. When finding the right words becomes difficult, art can often say things otherwise impossible to communicate. To support our young artists and give them a platform to share their experiences and connect with a larger community, the Thames Art Gallery is excited to work with local schools on this event.
