The Colour of Emotion
Vicki McFarland
January 18 - March 4, 2023
Reception during ARTcrawl, February 10, 2023 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Artist Talk and Live Painting Demonstration on February 11, 2023 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Vicki McFarland explores, with her unusual pouring technique, a dialogue with colours, shapes, and angles. Intuitive, by nature, she creates work that evokes an emotional response in her viewers. She is often guided by her choice of music in her studio. We can readily see the six elements of music, rhythm, dynamics, melody (the theme) tone, texture and form that are masterfully interpreted on her canvasses. Typically, she will pick a song and let the rhythm become part of the design process
Art + Climate = Change: This Changes EVERYTHING
March 10 - April 22, 2023
Reception: March 10, 2023 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Earth Day Workshop Insect Hotels: April 22 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm
When it comes to Climate and the Environment, our first thought may turn to satellite images of polar icecaps or infrared maps illustrating rising temperatures across the globe. In truth, climate change is happening much closer to home. It is time to reimagine the kind of world in which we wish to live. In the final analysis and above all else, it is a cultural question. The science is there. Technology advances every day. What is needed, however, is the willingness to harness our capabilities and address the problems we have created; to imagine new and better ways of being in the world.
