Then came COVID. Neither artist could go anywhere. It was frustrating. No searching. No road trips to shores or thrift stores. No adding to the art stash. Where, then, to focus?

Langford + Ondrovcik decided to take advantage of the months in COVID isolation and begin the tedious work of researching their roots. They would collect stories about a topic close to their hearts: Family. COVID magnified their need for connection. Who did they miss seeing? What family members should they get to know better? Who might they risk losing to the killer virus?

Blood Ties is about personal memory and family memory. It is about picking up pieces and fragments of truth and trying to understand the whole. It is about stories told and untold.
