Painting with Wool is an exhibition by Chatham-based rug hooker Karen Dysarz that vibrantly expresses the traditions and techniques of this celebrated craft. Her pieces show how she works intuitively with design and colour, creating beautifully intricate mats that are often biographical in nature and which are a unique expression of historical and contemporary narratives. Dedicated to using traditional techniques and materials, such as reclaimed wool and tools inherited from her mother, Dysarz’s work is a fine example of a type of rug hooking that is becoming a lost art.
